Jackery HomePower 1000 Plus v2 run time: how long it runs your things
Estimates. Your devices may use more or less. One thing at a time, from a full box. We keep 85% of the watt-hours, because some power is lost on the way out.
What we think
The HomePower 1000 Plus v2 and the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 weigh the same: 23.8 pounds. What sets them apart is batteries. Jackery says this box takes up to five expansion batteries. Jackery does not say if the Explorer 1000 v2 takes any. This box also gives more: 1,800 watts against 1,500. Watts are how fast something uses power. It holds a little less: 1,024 watt-hours against 1,070. Watt-hours are how much power a box holds.
What that means in an outage
By our math, counting a fridge at 120 watts, Wi-Fi at 15 and phones at 20:
- Fridge, Wi-Fi and phones: about 5.6 hours. The Explorer 1000 v2 gives about 5.9.
- Fridge alone: about 7.3 hours.
- Wi-Fi and phones only: about 25 hours.
- CPAP at about 40 watts, humidifier off or low: about 22 hours. Check the watts on your own machine.
These are estimates. Your devices may use more or less.
Its surge is 3,600 watts. Surge is a short burst some things need to start. A fridge can need about 1,200 watts, so by our math this box can start one.
Growing it and charging it
It fits someone who wants more hours later. Jackery says each expansion battery adds 2 kWh, about 2,000 watt-hours, for up to 11 kWh in all. It says only its Battery Pack 2000 Plus V2 works.
Jackery's page says a full charge from the wall takes 50 minutes at 1,600 watts. Its manual lists an Emergency Charging Mode, turned on in the Jackery app. Jackery does not say which mode gives the 50 minutes.
Jackery's manual lists two ports for solar panels, called DC8020, up to 400 watts in all.
The limit
Alone, this box does not run a fridge for a full day.
Jackery's manual gives a 3-year warranty, plus 2 more years if you register the box. The numbers here are from Jackery's page and manual.
Bottom line: a box one person can carry, with room for batteries later.
Good for
Short outages now, with the option to add batteries later, in a box one person can carry.
Not for
A full day of fridge on one charge. By our math the box alone runs a fridge for about 7.3 hours.
