Our take

A medium box that can run big things. It keeps a fridge, Wi-Fi and phones going for about 5.6 hours, and it can run a space heater with room to spare.

Estimates. Your devices may use more or less. One thing at a time, from a full box. We keep 85% of the watt-hours, because some power is lost on the way out.

What we think

The SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 is a medium box. It holds 1,024 watt-hours. Watt-hours are how much power a box holds. It gives up to 2,000 watts. Watts are how fast something uses power. Its surge is 3,000 watts. Surge is a short burst some things need to start, like a fridge motor.

What that means in an outage

By our math, counting a fridge at 120 watts, Wi-Fi at 15 and phones at 20:

These are estimates. Your devices may use more or less.

Why this one and not the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2

The reason is watts. This box gives 2,000 watts; the Explorer 1000 v2 gives 1,500. A space heater uses about 1,500 watts, so the Anker has room left for a lamp and a phone. It also has 5 wall-style outlets; the Jackery has 3. The Jackery holds a bit more, 1,070 watt-hours, and weighs 23.8 pounds against 24.9 here.

Moving it and charging it

24.9 pounds is about three gallons of water. Anker says it fills in 49 minutes in a mode called UltraFast, which you turn on in the Anker app.

The limit

Anker says this model does not take an extra battery. If your outages run long, look at the EcoFlow DELTA 3, which does. Anker also lists a mode called SurgePad for up to 2,400 watts. Its manual says it works with heating devices. That is a boost mode, not surge.

We're checking one thing: Anker's page and manual do not name the battery type.

Bottom line: the medium box to pick when you need more watts at once, not more hours.

Good for

Short outages, and people who want to run one big thing like a space heater or a microwave for a short time.

Not for

Long outages. Anker says you cannot add an extra battery to this model.
