EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max
A large box that can grow. It keeps a fridge, Wi-Fi and phones going for about 11 hours, and EcoFlow says you can add two extra batteries. At 50 lb it is a two-hand lift.
- 2,048 Wh
- Watt-hours: how much it holds
- 2,400 W
- Watts: how fast it gives power
- 4,800 W
- Surge: a short burst for start-ups
- 50 lb
- Weight: how heavy to carry
EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max run time: how long it runs your things
Estimates. Your devices may use more or less. One thing at a time, from a full box. We keep 85% of the watt-hours, because some power is lost on the way out.
What we think
The DELTA 2 Max and the DELTA 3 Max hold the same: 2,048 watt-hours. Watt-hours are how much power a box holds. Both give up to 2,400 watts. Watts are how fast something uses power. EcoFlow lists a surge of 4,800 watts for both. Surge is a short burst some things need to start, like a pump motor. What splits them is weight and solar. This box weighs 50 pounds and takes up to 1,000 watts of solar panels. The DELTA 3 Max weighs 44.8 pounds and takes up to 500.
What that means in an outage
By our math, counting a fridge at 120 watts, Wi-Fi at 15 and phones at 20:
- Fridge, Wi-Fi and phones: about 11 hours.
- Fridge alone: about 15 hours.
- A sump pump that runs at 960 watts: about 1.8 hours.
These are estimates. Your devices may use more or less.
Why this one and not the DELTA 3 Max
EcoFlow says this box takes up to two extra batteries, for 6,144 watt-hours in all. EcoFlow does not say if the DELTA 3 Max takes one. This box has 6 wall-style outlets; the DELTA 3 Max has 4. If you have to move the box, we would pick the DELTA 3 Max. It is 5.2 pounds lighter.
Moving it and charging it
50 pounds is a two-hand lift. EcoFlow's manual says it charges fully from the wall in about 80 minutes.
The limit
2,400 watts runs a space heater that uses 1,500 watts. But by our math the box is empty in about 1.2 hours. EcoFlow also lists a mode called X-Boost for up to 3,400 watts. That is a boost mode, not surge.
When the power goes out, EcoFlow's manual says this box switches to battery within 20 milliseconds. EcoFlow's page lists under 10 for the DELTA 3 Max.
Bottom line: a large box for about 11 hours of fridge, Wi-Fi and phones, for people who want to add batteries later.
Good for
Outages that last through the night, and people who may want to add batteries later. By our math it runs a fridge, Wi-Fi and phones for about 11 hours.
Not for
Anyone who has to carry the box often or up stairs. It weighs 50 lb; the DELTA 3 Max weighs 44.8 lb.
