How long it runs your things
Estimates. Your devices may use more or less. One thing at a time, from a full box. We keep 85% of the watt-hours, because some power is lost on the way out.
What we think
The Explorer 1000 v2 is a medium box. It holds 1,070 watt-hours. Watt-hours are how much power a box holds. It gives up to 1,500 watts. Watts are how fast something uses power. Its surge is 3,000 watts. Surge is a short burst some things need to start, like a fridge motor.
What that means in an outage
By our math, counting a fridge at 120 watts, Wi-Fi at 15 and phones at 20:
- Fridge, Wi-Fi and phones: about 5.9 hours.
- Fridge alone: about 7.6 hours.
- Wi-Fi and phones only: about 26 hours.
- CPAP: about 23 hours, by our math, for a CPAP that uses about 40 watts with the humidifier off or low. Check the watts on your own machine.
These are estimates. Your devices may use more or less.
Why this one and not the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2
The two are close. This box holds 1,070 watt-hours; the C1000 Gen 2 holds 1,024. This box weighs 23.8 pounds; the Anker weighs 24.9. So this box runs a bit longer and is easier to lift. The Anker gives 2,000 watts, and this box gives 1,500. If you want to run a space heater with other things on, we would pick the Anker.
Moving it and charging it
23.8 pounds is a bit less than three gallons of water. Jackery says it charges from the wall in about 1.6 hours.
The limit
A space heater uses about 1,500 watts. That is all this box can give, so nothing else can run with it, and the box would be empty in about 0.6 hours. Jackery's manual gives a 3-year warranty, plus 2 more years if you register the box.
We're checking one thing: Jackery does not say if you can add an extra battery to this model.
Bottom line: a medium box that one person can carry and that keeps the fridge and Wi-Fi going through a short outage.
Good for
Short outages where you want the fridge, Wi-Fi and phones on, in a box one person can carry.
Not for
Days without power, or a space heater with anything else plugged in.
